How to check your NTN number
Three free ways to find or verify an NTN — online, by SMS and inside IRIS — and how to read the result.

You can check an NTN in Pakistan free of charge through FBR's online verification service at e.fbr.gov.pk, by entering a CNIC or NTN under Taxpayer Profile Inquiry, or by texting ATL followed by the number to 9966.
Check online with FBR verification
FBR's online verification page is public. No account and no login are needed.
- 01Open FBR's e-portal verification pageGo to e.fbr.gov.pk and choose the verification service you need.
- 02Choose Taxpayer Profile InquiryThis returns the registration record. Choose Active Taxpayer List instead if you want filer status rather than registration details.
- 03Select the parameter typePick CNIC for an individual, or NTN for a company, AOP or registered firm.
- 04Enter the number and captchaEnter the CNIC with no dashes, or the 7-digit NTN, complete the captcha and submit.
- 05Read the resultYou see the registered name, the registration number, the registration date and the Regional Tax Office holding the record. No result means no registration exists against that number.
Check by SMS
The SMS route returns filer status rather than registration details, and it works from any mobile connection in Pakistan.
- Individuals: text ATL followed by a space and your 13-digit CNIC, with no dashes, to 9966.
- Businesses: text ATL followed by a space and the 7-digit NTN to 9966.
- The reply tells you whether the taxpayer is active on the list for the current period. Standard message charges apply.
Find your own NTN inside IRIS
If you are already registered, log in to iris.fbr.gov.pk with your CNIC or NTN. Your registration number is shown on the profile page along with the details FBR holds — registered address, business activity and contact details.
This is also where you correct anything out of date. A wrong mobile number or email on the record blocks password resets later.
What the results mean
- Record found, Active on the ATL: registered, and currently a filer.
- Record found, Inactive: registered, but no return filed for the latest completed tax year, or filed late with the surcharge unpaid.
- No record: no FBR registration exists against that number, so registration comes first.
- Name does not match: the registration may sit under a different profile, or the details on the FBR record are out of date.
Questions

Yes. FBR's online verification is free and needs no login. The SMS check to 9966 is charged only at your network's standard message rate.
FBR's taxpayer profile inquiry and Active Taxpayer List are public verification services, so a supplier's or customer's registration and filer status can be checked with their CNIC or NTN.
No record means no FBR registration exists against that number. Registration on IRIS creates the record, after which the number verifies normally.
